Abstract :
The MMR in India has declined from 384 in 2020 through 103 in 2020 and hovers around 97 per 100k currently. This is a decline of 6.36% in India, while the global decline during this period was only 2.07%. The current rate of decline will soon achieve the SDR of 76 by 2030. A creditable performance by all the stakeholders i.e The government with the numerous schemes to benefit pregnant women, the healthcare workers at the grass root level, better diagnostics and more free access to antibiotics & anesthesia are responsible for this. Undoubtedly the government would like to claim responsibility for these health statistics. Upon analysing the data it has become clear that it is the combined effort of the healthcare workers, the government and ancillary support such as transportation, antibiotics, blood and blood products and improved nutrition that has resulted in better outcomes. Stringent maternal mortality meeting monthly have created a sense of audit and accountability of everyone who serves as a member of the team dealing with maternal and child care services to be vigilant and watchful for high risk cases. That leaves us with our first question and the AWARD goes to........
