Abstract :
Introduction: Pemphigoid gestationis is a rare autoimmune vesiculobullous eruption disorder that causes itching during pregnancy. Patients have an extremely itchy, blistering eruption that starts in umbilicus and moves to the extremities. Aims and objectives: To determine the effect of pemphigoid gestationis on the pregnancy outcome. Materials & Methods: Patient who had a history of pemphigoid gestationis was evaluated, and the effect of this condition on the outcome of pregnancy was reviewed. Results: Pregnancy gets affected by pemphigoid gestation. Preterm births, fetal growth restriction, recurrent pregnancy losses, abortions and intrauterine deaths are all consequences of infection. Conclusions: Pemphigoid gestationis usually does not present a major health burden. Prompt clinical and histopathological diagnosis can reduce the adverse effects. Patients respond well to topical steroids. Multidisciplinary care is essential to minimize maternal and fetal complications. We present the case of a 33-year-old G6P4L1A1 with fetal growth restriction and a history of pemphigoid gestation, which was reported during a previous pregnancy.
