Abstract :
The case report has been done to examine the possibility of full term pregnancy achieved in case of a rare congenital anomaly, the bicornuate uterus. The bicornuate uterus is a very rare congenital anomaly of uterus, which falls in the class 4 category according to the classification of mullerian duct anomalies given by the American society of Reproductive medicine and is associated with worst reproductive outcomes like recurrent pregnancy loss and preterm labour being most common. This report highlights a case in which a 21 years old women G3P1A1D1 with bicornuate uterus who had a viable pregnancy in right uterine horn admitted for safe confinement at 31 weeks POG. USG FWB and colour doppler was normal. Fetal heart sound was heard on doppler. Later, she delivered a live male neonate at term without complications via spontaneous vaginal delivery and got discharged after 3 days. She was advised to come back after 15days or SOS in case of emergency. Most cases of bicornuate uterus do not present with any symptoms i.e. they are asymptomatic and can be detected during routine evaluation of the patient. The first and foremost investigations to be done is ultrasonography , which diagnose the bicornuate uterus. Magnetic resonance imaging is the gold standard test for its diagnosis. However, the diagnosis in case of asymptomatic patients is relatively tricky and requires aggressive prenatal monitoring and needs to be kept in observation to make the pregnancy successful.
