Abstract :
The legal age of marriage in India is 18 year despite this fact there are considerable amount of teenage pregnancy in India. Sexual and reproductive health involves a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. It requires being able to access information, education and services to make informed decisions about our sexuality, pleasure and reproduction throughout our lives. Adolescents (10-19 years) and young adults (20-24 years) constitute a significant population.People in this group are often the most vulnerable to negative reproductive maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health (RMNCAH) issues such as STIs, including HIV infection, unsafe abortion, drug abuse and addiction, mental disorders, unplanned pregnancies, sexual violence and their short- and long-term consequences, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Access to contraception is a central component of sexual and reproductive healthcare. Contraception gives people autonomy over their reproductive health with the ability to decide if, or when, they would like to become pregnant. By offering a choice of contraceptive methods, sexual and reproductive healthcare providers enable people to make informed decisions about their future fertility. Conclusion:- We found multiple reasons for the same as such illiteracy, low socio economic status, no knowledge about sexual and reproductive health and rights and limited knowledge of contraception and increasing influence of social media.
