ABSTRACT Presenter: Dr.Nandita B Patil (PG) Moderator:Dr.supriya [Associate professor] Department of OBG ESIC MCH,KALABURAGI Title:Mucinous cystadenoma : Unusual intaoperative presentation Introduction: Mucinous neoplasms of ovary account for 10-15% of ovarian neoplasm They may be benign ,borderline or malignant The large majority of are benign or borderline,accounting for 80% and and 16-17%,respectively .mucinous neoplasms of the ovary most commonly affect women in their 20 to 40s ,the clinical manifestation is non specific ,but most mucinous ovarian neoplasms manifest as large unilateral pelvic masses. Case study 22years nulligravida with c/o severe lower abdominal pain since 1and half month which was spasmodic in nature on examination mass corresponding to 16 weeks of gestation with restricted mobility cystic to firm in consistency on p/v uterus corresponding to 16 weeks with posterior forniceal fullness usg done and suggestive of 10 *10*9 cm cystic lesion noted in pelvis with multiple thin septa within it and CT scan shows begign cystic neoplastic etiology suggestive of mucinous cystedinoma Diagnosis of left ovarian mucinous cystadenoma was made and patient was taken for cystectomy. Laparotomy revealed large left multiloculated cyst arising from left ovary with blackish discolouration over the surface of cyst and anterior ,posterior surface of uterus,POD and omentum. Postoperatively patient was stable and advised to be followed up regularly. Conclusion Mucinous cystadenoma of ovary if not interverned on time can be hazardous, leading to significant morbidity and mortality.
